The Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Authority (WAPA) selected Vision Technologies (Vision) to provide comprehensive IT support services including applications software support and development, database administration, call-center help desk support, computer center operations, workstation support, configuration management, systems administration, email and Internet support, cyber security, and asset management for on- and off-site bases. Vision ensures the quality of service remains consistent through considered allocation of resources and world-class project management methodologies. Eight major sites are supported under this contract, including the DOE headquarters in Washington, DC.

A wide range and diversity of databases and software are supported including: Oracle (over 50 in various versions and with Serena’s Dimensions for configuration management), Sybase PowerBuilder, MS SQL Server, IBM Maximo, RADIUS, Cisco IOS, Novell GroupWise office automation, and Novell ZENWorks for server management

Vision sustains over 130 servers in Operations Centers (Gentoo Linux, Silicon Graphics 5G, Novell, VMware, Citrix, HPUX, and Solaris) and server scripting in AWK, Perl, Windows, or standard shell. Web services/servers incorporate MS IIS, Apache Tomcat, MS Office SharePoint Server, and Adobe Dreamweaver. Vision protects managed data with Symantec NetBackup Datacenter Vault backups.
